Our Story and Mission

At RIGHT TO DEVELOPMENT RD INC, we believe in the fundamental right to development for all. Learn about our journey, our commitment to empowering communities, and our vision for a more equitable world.

Our inspiration and purpose

Right to Development (RD) Inc. was inspired by a simple but powerful belief: every human being, regardless of where they are born or the circumstances they face, deserves the opportunity to live with dignity, access basic necessities, and reach their full potential. The organization was founded after witnessing firsthand the harsh realities faced by many communities in developing countries, particularly in Africa. These realities include child malnutrition, poverty, lack of access to quality education and healthcare, unemployment, gender inequality, food insecurity, inadequate clean water and sanitation services, and limited opportunities for economic advancement. While these challenges are significant, we also saw something equally powerful—resilient people, determined communities, and untapped potential waiting for the right support and opportunities. The inspiration behind RD Inc. came from recognizing that sustainable development cannot be achieved through charity alone.

Making a tangible difference

At Right to Development (RD) Inc., our greatest measure of success is the positive change we see in the lives of the people and communities we serve. Every project we undertake is designed to create lasting impact, and behind every achievement is a story of hope, resilience, and transformation. One of our most inspiring success stories comes from the Feeding Hope Project in Sierra Leone. During community outreach activities, our team identified several children suffering from severe acute malnutrition. Among them was a young child named Amida Whab, whose condition required urgent intervention. Through nutritional support, caregiver education, regular monitoring, and collaboration with local health workers, Amida's health began to improve significantly. This transformation gave renewed hope to the family and demonstrated the life-saving power of community-based nutrition programs. The Feeding Hope Project has also empowered lactating mothers by teaching them how to prepare nutrient-rich foods for their children.

What makes us unique

Many organizations work to address poverty, health challenges, education gaps, and social inequality. What makes Right to Development (RD) Inc. different is our belief that sustainable development is not something we do for communities—it is something we build with communities. Our approach is deeply community-driven. We work closely with local leaders, health workers, educators, volunteers, community-based organizations, and beneficiaries to identify challenges, design solutions, and implement programs that reflect local realities and priorities. This ensures that our interventions are practical, culturally appropriate, and sustainable long after a project has ended. Another distinguishing factor is our commitment to addressing interconnected challenges rather than isolated problems. We recognize that poverty, malnutrition, poor health, unemployment, limited education, gender inequality, and environmental degradation are often linked. As a result, our programs are designed to create holistic solutions.

Our dedicated leadership

Right to Development (RD) Inc. is driven by a dedicated team of development professionals, educators, researchers, healthcare advocates, community leaders, volunteers, and international partners who share a common commitment to improving lives and creating sustainable opportunities for vulnerable populations. Among the key leaders of the organization is Dr. Joseph G. Conteh, whose professional background spans public policy, health policy, education, nonprofit leadership, and international development. Having witnessed firsthand the challenges faced by underserved communities, particularly in Africa, Dr. Conteh is motivated by a deep belief that development is a fundamental human right and that every individual deserves access to opportunities that enable them to thrive. The organization is strengthened by a network of committed professionals and partners, including development practitioners, healthcare workers, educators, researchers, and monitoring and evaluation specialists.

"RIGHT TO DEVELOPMENT RD INC's dedication to community empowerment is truly inspiring. Their work transforms lives."
